Resumen:
The present project the design and modeling of a single-phase shunt active filter, which is intended to
compensate harmonic currents in a distribution network with different nonlinear loading conditions through
simulations using Matlab/Simulink. It is mentioned briefly the loads that are a source of harmonic currents, the
problems that involve this type of load and the regulations established to control the energy quality concerning
to the harmonic distortion of current as well as the theoretical foundations for the development of this project.
Then there is the topology chosen to the model of active filter and the rating calculation of the basic elements.
Subsequently, the technique of hysteresis current control is used for the active filter to follow the reference of
compensating harmonic currents with a constant ripple, and the design of a voltage regulation control to
maintain a constant voltage of the DC-bus for a half-bridge inverter that is responsible of providing current
compensation to the network. Finally simulations are being performed to observe the behavior of the filter
under different loading conditions.
