Abstract: The development of this research was based on the need for a taxonomic classification of the Cerro Blanco Protected Forest biodiversity; this protected forest is considered one of the most important tropical dry forests in Ecuador due to it its high wildlife diversity. The applied methodology in this project was based on the use of camera traps that resulted in a photographic database intended for the analysis of the biodiversity in Cerro Blanco Protected Forest. Furthermore, the photographic database and analysis obtained from the camera traps will be used for the elaboration of environmental interpretation sketches. The placement of the camera traps was identified by traces and footprints of animals in strategic locations, such as, areas of congregation of species. These camera traps provide photographic information that is analyzed through observation, identification and taxonomic classification with the aid of wildlife guides from Ecuador. In addition, statistical analyzes were made to identify and analyze species captured in the images, in order to support and contribute to the conservation of threatened species, with respect to IUCN categories.
