Diseño de programa de actividades turísticas para la central hidroeléctrica Marcel Laniado de Wind

Abstract

This project aims to design a tourism activities program for the Marcel Laniado de Wind Hydroelectric Power Plant, located in the province of Guayas, Ecuador, integrating in a planned and sustainable manner its main areas: the bamboo garden, the monkey protected forest, and the Daule–Peripa reservoir. The proposal is based on the recognition of the tourism potential of the natural environment surrounding the hydroelectric facility, considering the growing demand for nature-based tourism and low-impact recreational experiences. The project was developed using a qualitative methodology with a Design Thinking approach, which included a literature review, direct observation, in-depth interviews, and tourism benchmarking with destinations of similar characteristics. Based on this process, a tourism program was designed, consisting of zone-based activities such as interpretive hiking, flora and fauna observation, birdwatching, nature photography, and recreational activities related to the reservoir. The results indicate that the Marcel Laniado de Wind Hydroelectric Power Plant has a high level of tourism potential, although gaps remain in infrastructure, services, and public use organization. It is concluded that the gradual implementation of the proposed program would contribute to diversifying the local tourism offer and promoting the responsible use of natural resources without interfering with hydroelectric operations.
