Evaluación mixta del impacto socioeconómico: Alianza ESPOL-ALMAR en el recinto La Unión

Abstract

This study analyzes the subjective perspectives of the beneficiaries of the program “Strengthening for Sustainable Development in the La Unión Community” (2017–2022), implemented through the alliance between ESPOL and the ALMAR Group, in order to assess the perceived socioeconomic impact on households. The objective is to identify locals’ perspectives regarding the effects of the program on different aspects such as income, education, women’s empowerment, and quality of life. The research is justified by the absence of comparable historical metrics that would allow for an evaluation of the program’s actual impact, identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement in future social responsibility interventions. The Q Methodology was used as a mixed-method approach, employing exploratory interviews and applying Q-Sorts to 15 residents of the community. The data was analyzed through inverted factor analysis using Principal Components extraction and Varimax rotation. The results identified two predominant factors: one focused on the fulfillment and successful completion of the program, and another oriented toward social transformation and women’s empowerment. It is concluded that the program generated significant positive impacts, particularly in education and the role of women, although further evaluations are required to strengthen household economic self-sufficiency.
