Abstract:
In order to facilitate the taking of decisions that help maintain the balance of the risk - profitability, institution considered timely to overhaul the BI dimensional models currently manage, optimize and secure as a basis for the next stage strategic management of the company. It will be also necessary to create new models; to ensure that all areas of the company have access to the information needed for management.
Review and optimization models was performed supported in IBM Cognos tool because the tool has characteristics that give it a high degree of adaptability, modularity and high cost-benefit ratio, given the features that are described below:
Modular and progressive implementation.
Ability to obtain information from multiple data sources.
Re usable to changes in the sources of information.
Web environment.
Incorporation of collaborative networks.
It is additionally highlight the functionality cutting information (Slicing and Drill Down) which allows examining even the most intimate details of the information, allowing exercise the preventive and corrective actions that are necessary for compliance with the strategy defined by the Organization .

Con la finalidad de facilitar la toma de decisiones que ayuden a mantener el equilibrio de la relación riesgo – rentabilidad, la institución consideró oportuna realizar una revisión general de los modelos dimensionales BI que actualmente maneja, optimizarlos y asegurarse que sirvan como base para la siguiente etapa de la gestión estratégica de la empresa. Será necesario además crear nuevos modelos; a fin de garantizar que todas las áreas de la empresa tengan acceso a la información necesaria para la gestión.
La revisión y optimización de modelos se realizó apoyada en la herramienta IBM Cognos, ya que la herramienta posee características que le confieren un alto grado de adaptabilidad, modularidad y alta relación costo beneficio, dadas las funcionalidades que se describen a continuación:
Implantación modular y progresiva.
Capacidad de obtener información de múltiples fuentes de datos.
Re usable ante cambios en las fuentes de información. Ambiente web.
Incorporación de Redes Colaborativas.
Es de destacar adicionalmente, la funcionalidad de corte de información (Slicing y Drill Down) la cual permite examinar hasta los detalles más íntimos de la información, permitiendo ejercer las acciones preventivas y correctivas que fueren necesarias para el cumplimiento de la estrategia definida por la Organización.
